Among all the BRIC countries, Russia is the only one facing a population fall; a decline which could spell catastrophe for its economy. A BBC reporter from a fellow BRIC country, Brazil has been to Moscow to find out what can be done to halt the decline.

But the director of the Centre for the Study of Population Problems, at Moscow State University, Valery Yelizarov, is wary of this policy. Russians are wary of foreigners, they do not like to mix with people from other cultures and faiths.
